Busy Woman's Matcha Latte - Flora Foodie

Busy Woman’s Matcha Latte

Hi, internet friends!  How was your weekend?  Mine was fun, but a little bit busier than I expected!  Preston (the bf) and I babysat his niece and nephew for most of the weekend.  It was a pretty fun weekend filled with lake time, playgrounds, ice cream, and kids movies.  But it was a little ridiculous for me to expect that I’d actually get some blog writing and recipes done!  Ha!  New respect for mothers who make time to blog 🙂

My weekend made me feel that another busy woman’s caffeine fix was a really good idea!  If you liked my busy woman’s iced mocha I posted on Friday, you’ll love this. (*Sidenote: I made a wonderful dessert last night with my mocha recipe’s chocolate almond milk ice cubes. I’ll post a quick recipe today on the florafoodie facebook page.)

I recently posted a recipe for a vanilla matcha latte.  It is absolutely one of my favorite new treats.  I love it SO much that I really needed to find a way to make them at work.  And to whip up in no time on Monday mornings after a busy weekend like mine.

So here it is!

It’s really fast and easy.  In fact, this is how I always make them now unless I happen to have a niece leisurely morning or afternoon and I really want to appreciate the time spent making my treat as well as enjoying it.

It is a microwave-based drink, so you do need a microwave at work.  And to not be too concerned with microwaving your food.

things to pack:
– matcha tea
– non-dairy milk of choice
– bamboo whisk (not as big a deal if you don’t have it for this method)
– sweetener if needed
– mug

how to make it:

1.  Pour a small amount of water in the bottom of a mug – about 1-2 tablespoons.  No more.

2.  Microwave that little bit of water until it is really HOT.  Only takes about 15 seconds with that little bit of water.

3.  Add 1 teaspoon matcha tea to the hot water.  Whisk away with your bamboo whisk, until it’s completely incorporated.  If you don’t have a whisk, just use a fork.  It will work pretty well.

4.  Pour in your soy milk, about 1 cup (or whatever kind of milk you choose.)  Add sweetener.  One packet of raw sugar is the perfect amount of sweetener for me.

5.  Microwave again.  Takes about a minute in my work and home microwaves.

6.  Stir again for good measure.

Do you have a favorite drink to sip on at work?  Or in the morning?

I did manage to carve out a little time this weekend to play with my new camera some more.  A few random shots:
