Maple Sugar Cookie Hot Toddy - Flora Foodie

Maple Sugar Cookie Hot Toddy

I’m thinking of doing a new series on the blog called I’m Awesome at Turning Manly Drinks Into Girly Drinks.  Do you like it?

Okay, maybe it doesn’t need to be a series.

But I am really loving this.  Last year, I got hooked on hot toddys (toddies?) and I loved them.  This year, I knew I’d make a lot more.  With some more foodie experiments and twists and spins, of course…

After I did some bourbon tasting and discovered that maple bourbon is one of the best things known to man, a new girly hot toddy was born.

Maple bourbon + sugar cookie-flavored tea = a girly girl’s hot toddy.

Instead of dessert, try this!  It will warm you up, it’s full of sweet maple flavor, plus a hot toddy is an old natural cold remedy!  Ha!

It’s this simple:
serves 1
1 sugar cookie tea bag (you can use plain black tea, of course. or anything you like!)
2 oz maple bourbon
2 slices meyer lemon
optional: 1-2 tsp honey*
hot water
* If you’re actually using this as a cold remedy, the honey does have some great soothing qualities, especially for a sore throat.  But flavor-wise, the bourbon is plenty sweet; and I know a lot of vegans don’t eat honey.  It’s totally optional.  I left it out to keep the sugar content down, but if I get a cold, I’ll be adding it to this for sure!

Just mix everything together in a cup of hot water.  Sip away 🙂
