Who wants a Saturday cocktail recipe?!
I actually may not need one because I’m off wine tasting today. ๐ There is a legit monastery about an hour and a half away, where you can tour, meditate, and also DRINK WINE! Um, yes please. I love all those things (especially wine.) Boyfriend and I have been meaning to go for so long, and today’s the day! I’m sure I’ll share pics on my personal Instagram (personal one here, bloggy/healthy one here) and maybe even more on a weekend post!
Oh yeah, back to that cocktail!
Preston and I bought a box of seasonal beer from Sierra Nevada this winter, and I totally LOVE their maple scotch style ale. But it’s also a way bolder beer than what I usually go for. I took one sip and was like, “this is a beer that was made to become a cocktail.”
So it took me forever to get around to creating a cocktail with the one lonely beer I saved. (I saved it in the vegetable drawer where I hide all the best goodies since Preston NEVER looks there. Even though he knows I hide things in there. ๐ )
This maple lime bourbon beer cocktail is pretty strong, serious, and bold. Lime juice lightens it up ever-so-slightly. Maple syrup also lightens it because… maple syrup. But this is a winter cocktail if I’ve ever seen one.
So let’s get shakin’. Metaphorically… because you really don’t want to shake a beer cocktail! ๐
- 1 bottle Sierra Nevada maple scotch ale*
- 2 T lime juice
- 2 T maple syrup
- 4 oz bourbon/whisky
- lime rind and/or slices for garnish
- In a glass, mix lime juice, maple syrup, and bourbon. Slowly pour in beer on top and gently mix. Garnish with lime rind or slices.
- * I’m sure any dark beer would work, especially something with a maple flavor in it.
