Hello looooooves! How are you?
If you follow me on Instagram, then you probably saw that I was SO. CRAZED. last week, I couldn’t even go through vacay photos to get a blog post up for y’all. But Preston and I had a lovely weekend in Fort Bragg the weekend before last for their whale watching festival! Gray whales migrate down the NorCal coast, and there are a handful of little coastal towns with festivals to celebrate. Boyfriend picked Fort Bragg, kind of at random, and we just loved it. It’s a gorgeous little town.
We actually saw a TON of whales! I didn’t get any great pictures of them (womp, womp) because we didn’t take a boat or anything so all of our sightings were far-off or through binoculars.
When we booked the trip, I saw some random little post for a chowder tasting competition and beer tasting at the Town Hall. It was cheap and sounded fun so we bought tickets and wound up rolling into town right as it started. We honestly expected to be some of the only people arriving there on time (I mean, come on – how big of an event does “town hall chowder tasting” sound like?) But it was PACKED, and the line went halfway down the block!!! It was a fire marshal’s nightmare (Preston got some laughs with that one) in the jam-packed little Town Hall. But it was so much fun. We made friends FAST because you tend to bond when there’s no opportunity for personal space 😉
The rest of the weekend, we just walked along the beach, ate, and hung out in our hotel room. Our hotel was right on the water, and we walked out for a walk before even checking in and spotted a whale right away!
On the way out of town, we made sure to stop at the light house in Mendocino because we were told that’s one of the best places to spot the whales. Sure enough, we saw a TON off the coast of the light house.
