Loves! It’s been a little while since I’ve done a Loving Lately or Friday Favorites post! I love Friday Favorite posts because it makes me keep a running list of happy things and find some good in even the worst weeks. BUT I feel like they come around too often and aren’t necessary every week.
I’ve still been keeping a list of some highlights, but thought I’d throw them into a big post for the last month-ish of highlights!
Stair Run HIIT Workout
I’ve been doing a 15 minute HIIT workout on the stairs that KILLS me. But in a way that makes me feel awesome 😉 I’ve done a handful of variations, but I think this is my favorite. I do 30 seconds work, 30 seconds rest of the following exercises: (1) run up and down the stairs; (2) toe taps on the bottom of the stairs; (3) run up and down the stairs; (4) left side – single leg sideways hops (like the second workout here, but instead of just stepping, I hop both on the knee up and on the step back down; (5) right side of the same hops. Repeat 2x for a 15 minute workout.
This is like a love/hate item. I HATE that phone companies have totally screwed us out of good phone deals by getting rid of contract renewals. I was adamant that I would NOT pay full price for a $700+ phone. So I spent HOURS scouring the internet for the perfect budget phones, found a couple super promising options. Tried two. DESPISED them both. Like, despised. Is there a stronger word than despised??? I felt it. I wasted SO MUCH TIME searching for more affordable options, and SO MUCH TIME trying to figure out how to make crappy budget phones work for me, and SO MUCH TIME yelling in frustration at them. So last week I finally caved and bought a freaking iPhone on a freaking payment plan. And ERMAGERD it’s so relieving to have a fully functional phone that I know how to use. And to have my time reclaimed as my own! No more smartphone jail.
Y’all know it’s impossible for me to NOT put flowers on this list. They make me so happy it’s stupid. I mean, how PERFECT are these orange ombre roses?!?!?! Can’t even.
Our Baby Sequoia
On that same note, remember Vern? Our baby sequoia tree from Sequoia National Park? Well, he has grown a full INCH since we got him in September. Which is insanely speedy for a sequoia tree. We’re very proud of our evergreen baby.
Planning a Trip
Preston and I booked a trip to visit ICELAND and GERMANY this fall! Hello, Blue Lagoon, Northern Lights (I hope……!!!!!), and Oktoberfest in Munich. <3 Sooo stinking excited.
Taxes Are Done
True to form, I procrastinated my taxes until the very last minute and every time I thought of them from the day I received my W-2 through Monday, my shoulders inched closer and closer to my ears. I can breathe a big sigh of relief that I finally did them. Preston has promised to do them for me next year. Maybe this will be the last time I suffer through on my own.
A friend just gave me this panda planner, which is a crazy detailed seems-overwhelming-at-first planner designed not just to organize what the heck you have to do but to increase happiness and gratitude. You start each day by listing a few things you’re grateful for, and a few things you’re excited about. At the end of the day, you list what your wins were and how you’ll improve. (There’s a lot more to it than that, but if I’ve piqued your curiosity, I recommend you check it out.)
This is a weird one. I mean… not weird in the sense that a great candle is a perfectly normal thing to make a favorites list. But weird for the reason that I love the smell (which took me days to pinpoint.) So hear me out: you know how when you accidentally get your perfume on your clothes, the smell changes in a way that doesn’t really happen on skin? And obviously it lasts longer. So the smell on a sweatshirt sleeve a week after you sprayed it is like a related smell to the original perfume. Am I crazy here? I hope not, because I am so super confident that this is a thing. Well this candle smells the way that Clinique Happy in Bloom (which I wore for YEARS) smells on clothing. I swear. And I still totally love that perfume, and it’s such a weird little happy smell memory… So yeah. I’m legitimately a crazy person. Nice to meet you. Welcome to my blog. 🙂
Target Dollar Bins
Ahhhhh I want to buy EVERYTHING in the Target (dollar) bins (but now not everything there is $1 of course…) They have a huge collection of pineapple and flamingo goodies and I went a bit crazy snagging some cocktail napkins, stirrers, and straws. I managed to exercise some restraint over the garden section, but I’m DYING to buy all their cute little pots and copper garden tags!
