About a year ago, I had close to zero interest in owning a home. I graduated from law school when the legal job market was at an all-time low, struggled financially for years, had to uproot my life unexpectedly repeatedly in ways that a commitment like a house would not have allowed.
But Preston started itching to buy a house pretty early on. He graduated from law school three years later when things were much brighter, got his dream job just a month after bar results, and followed an incredibly traditional career path that put him in a much more stable place than I had ever (and still haven’t) experienced.
But last summer, I started to get that itch too, for mainly one reason: I want a GARDEN in a BACKYARD. I want one. Noowwwwwwww!
We’re not buying a house.
But we just *might* rent one! (Fingers crossed I’m not jinxing the whole deal by posting this. We’ve been on an unsuccessful hunt for awhile anyway, so who knows…)
Since the seed was planted a few months ago that we may be able to rent a house this spring, I’ve been saving craft projects, furniture, and outdoor lighting for my hypothetical future backyard. And fire pits. Like about seventeen fire pits.
I know it’s a little out of the norm for posts on here, but I wanted to share…! Everything’s pretty budget-friendly, because I’m a pretty budget-friendly gal 😉
*1 – those flower lights are a bonus mention because I actually have a string that I bought YEARS ago and I love them even more now that they’re all beaten and battered and weathered. But I love that they still make them, so if I get my backyard I may have to buy another string or two…
*10 – another amazing cat garden tutorial here
(The wreath at the top is one of my favorite easy crafts – plastic succulents, a grapevine wreath, and a lot of hot glue 😀 )
HAPPY FRIDAY, loves!!! Have a spectacular weekend.
