CURRENTLY IN ICELAND! Almost. This post is set to go up just a wee bit before Preston and I are supposed to land in Iceland. (So fingers crossed we’re there soon and nothing went wrong 😉 )
feeling so grateful for this trip. I’ve been dying to travel for most of my life, but just have not been able to afford it. Our trip to Mexico a year and a half ago was my first time out of the country (minus a couple quick trips to Canada when I was too young to remember much and before you needed a passport to get there!) This is my first trip to Europe, by FAR the biggest trip I’ve ever been on, and it’s just a dream.
writing most of this a week before we’re leaving, so I guess it’s not as “current” as most of my “currently” posts.
scheduling blog content for while we’re gone.
trying so hard to be better about consistent posting!
balancing that with my mental health and letting myself relax at home.
using face masks (LOTS of sheet masks) almost daily to give myself a little “me time” often.
lighting candles just as often.
reading a lot lately, too.
making a list of priorities each week and each day. I rarely have more than one absolute MUST do item each day. If I have time and energy after it’s done, I move on to #2. If I am not up for that, I forgive myself and move on.
finding that incredibly helpful for my anxiety.
struggling immensely on the days when I feel like I can’t even get it together for priority #1 (luckily those haven’t been very frequent…)
putting yoga on the list a few times lately.
realizing that I meditate WAY better while doing yoga than I do just sitting.
craving running, and FINALLY starting to make progress on getting out there more.
getting excited for fall! It’s going to be nice and cool on our trip and I hope it feels more like fall when we’re back!
buying a couple new fall clothing items for the trip.
freezing my spending when we’re back.
re-learning that I don’t find joy in things the way I find joy in adventures.
watching Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce. Did NOT expect to like it but was feeling desperate for a light-hearted new show, and I’m pleasantly surprised!
picking out new show premieres to try (and I’m happy so many shows are starting while I’m gone so I’ll have a little stockpile to slowly work through), but…
instituting a lower-TV policy when we get back from Europe
including no more meals in front of the TV
eyeing this candlestick holder… y’know, as an incentive to have pretty candlelit dinners at home more! (and then remembering that spending freeze… 🙁 except these boots and an instant pot are on the “pre-approved” list of purchases this season.)
reeling at the thought that SEPTEMBER IS ALMOST OVER. WHAT. (I mean, sure, I’m writing this a week from the day it’s going up. But still… I know that week will fly!)
sending you all cozy fall wishes!
unplugging as much as I can, though.
