YOU GUYS. How is it September? Like for real…
I gotta say, it’s been a lovely summer. Two summers in a row, so I think that means I officially like summer. But I am SO ready for fall. I’m excited. I made my first pumpkin recipe for the blog today (posting SO SOON), bought mini pumpkin decorations from Target, and I’ve been burning fall candles for a shockingly long time already 🙂
BUT. Before we get to all the fall excitement that September brings, I’m here to share another recap! I’m loving getting these posts together, so I hope you enjoy! Picking up where I left off on my last one…
Can we just talk about the eclipse for a second? I was FLOORED. The week before the eclipse I was not handling my mental health super well. Y’all know. I actually ranted and raved a little bit around here, even though I try to avoid that 🙂 So the week of the eclipse, I decided to try a little cheerful technique and pick something each day to get unreasonably excited about.
It worked SO WELL in general (trying to keep that up – most days it gets me through tough stuff.) But kicking it off with the eclipse? AMAZING.
Obviously it’s hard to photograph the eclipse, so this shot of my mom and niece watching together is my fave.
Anyhow. I’ve heard from a lot of people (except those who saw the totality) that they were disappointed. That breaks my heart because I found it so moving. Way more than I expected.
A couple women from my office were equally excited so we took a lot of small breaks and went out to check the various stages. And then snap pictures of all the amazing little crescent shadows from our office windows!!
For a hot second we were having a really nice mild summer. As I write this, we’re at the tail end of an INSANE heat wave. UGH. I miss snapping pics of the beautiful sky on a walk…
Went to book club. My friend Hailey made the most GORGEOUS cheese spread ever. OH, MAN. All cheese spreads need honeycomb now. Seriously. Try that ish.
Last weekend, P and I left work early (that part was a last minute decision after a tough week!) and headed down the coast to camp with friends. It was just SOOOO much fun. Beautiful, misty, and cool (while it was in the 100s at home). And the friends we camped with don’t camp much, so it was fun to experience it with them.
We made our way over to have lunch on these steps and go for a long relaxing walk along the boardwalk…
We walked through shops in the town of Cambria. I have never in my life taken so many pictures of cute little shops and gardens and made such a gigantic list of things I want to make or ways I want to decorate my home after everything we walked through.
Back home the last week it’s been fairly uneventful. The workweek was super normal.
For our long weekend, we didn’t make any big plans. We had such fun little plans and had a lovely long relaxing weekend. (Minus the HUNDRED AND TEN degree weather. Ugh.)
Wine tasting with friends. We went for a long kayak ride down the river (never gone down the river before!) and met my parents at a bar along the river, and they took us back home! Plus plenty of cleaning, errands, reading, and watching TV 😉
How was your Labor Day weekend??
