Happy Monday, my friends! It’s (already) time for another recap post! Nothing too uneventful last couple of weeks! P and I are just prepping for our trip that’s coming soon, I am trying to use the change of seasons as a chance to switch up my routines and priorities just a touch, and we’re soaking up the last little bit of summer.
Here are some random details from life lately…
Pumpkin pie ice cream 😉😍🎃
We had a super fun impromptu date night last weekend when we both got home early on Friday and felt like doing something. We wound up wandering around to a few different places downtown. Which we NEVER do anymore. So it was a blast.
That green cocktail has GOT to be duplicated. The bartender was happy that I was feeling indecisive (because I also wasn’t picky 😉 ) and made me his “specialty” cocktail with TONS of muddled basil and lime flavored gin.
Last weekend I filmed a few videos to prep for YouTube posts! This weekend went by faster than I expected, so I didn’t get one posted yet but I am hoping to get them up soon. We ventured all over trying to find some good nearby spots to film workout videos. A good park, the best set of bleachers at my college campus, and the park behind my sister’s house. My sister, kids, our parents’ dog (staying with my sis), Preston, and I all trekked to the park around the corner from my sister’s house to film a video and play on the playground.
These boys. 😍
Pizza + champagne brunch last weekend.
We tried out a couple Blue Apron shipments. It was fun to test it out, but I’m cancelling it. Maybe I’ll do a longer review later, but the short one is: I actually enjoy going to the store and usually don’t mind planning my meals. And the meals themselves were WAY more in depth, time consuming, and used a TON of dishes for weeknight dinners. So I think it only saved me from the tasks I like the most. But I did love forcing myself to try dishes I wouldn’t normally pick out and not having to worry about food waste.
How amazing is this gorgeous sky?? You could literally walk from the raining part of the sidewalk to the dry part of the sidewalk. Pretty cool.
Started out this past weekend relaxing with the pupster on the couch. If only it had stayed so relaxing…. 🙁
We helped a friend move almost the whole day Saturday. It was tough and tiring. Though with two flights of stairs in his old apartment and one in his new house, I had a lot of opportunities to yell “PIVOT!” at my friends. So… that was a highlight.
First thing I did when we finished up was unpack candles and set them up in the fireplace. LOVE love love it. Fireplace envy is real…
Yesterday was SUCH a frustrating day. I couldn’t sleep AT ALL Saturday night (like, got up at midnight to make food and watch a movie and give up on sleep for a few hours) so I woke up cranky and groggy yesterday morning. And Ned was bouncing off the walls, so we decided to grab donuts and coffee and take him to the dog park. The donuts and coffee were GREAT (and we tried a new place, so that was extra happy) but we were at the dog park not even five minutes before a huge pit bull that was two and a half times Ned’s size attacked him! :'( He is TOTALLY FINE. No injuries at all. I don’t think the pit bull even broke the skin, and Ned jumped right up and started hounding me to give him the ball that instigated the fight… But it was really scary and not at all a good way to start the day.
We went right home and cleaned up the pupster and inspected him for injuries. Once we knew he was okay, we headed to get groceries, and I was THRILLED to see that pumpkin has invaded my Trader Joe’s. I bought a BUNCH of pumpkin stuff (I’m doing at least one and maybe more pumpkin haul videos on YouTube.)
My sister’s birthday was last week so we had plans for a family dinner last night to celebrate, but her kids and hubster have been passing around some nasty 24-hour bug so we had to cancel. I drove over her present and gave it to her from a distance 😀 This picture doesn’t do the gift wrap justice. Target’s gift wrap section is fantastic right now!
Last night, Preston and I had dinner with my parents and then took the dogs for a walk by the river. We hit the spot with the best view just at the golden hour! I love how it made everything look a lot more like fall because it cast such a warm glow on everything 😉 Thank goodness for such a peaceful way to end a busy, crazy, and rather frustrating weekend!
I’m actually quite happy to start this Monday (normally I get my Monday blues HARD). FALL starts this week, I leave for vacay next week, and I could use a little new-season new-schedule new-motivation. 🙂
