MY FRIENDS! Since I haven’t been posting super often, I thought I’d do a little coffee chat post to catch up on personal stuff!
SO where to start!
Wedding stuff. Obviously. 👰🏻 The short version is: I hate it.
Okay, I’m kind of kidding. 😂
Honestly, I have so little interest in a wedding. But to satisfy what I want, Preston wants, and our families want, we’re having a tiny wedding. And I THOUGHT that since I would be fine without even having a wedding, it would be a piece of cake to plan a tiny one. Because who cares! Well, I thought wrong. I care just enough to make every single little decision a nightmare. But I don’t care enough to enjoy that process or to spend a ton of money on it… Ugh.
It’s been a little frustrating. BUT we finally have the place, date, DRESS (yay!), and food decided. So now I feel like I can relax a little. (And stop spending my blogging time on wedding stuff 😉 ) The caterer is picked but we still have to do a tasting and decide on the menu – but THAT sounds like so much fun. And we’re getting married in April so we have loads of time. 😀 The only other thing I genuinely feel like I NEED is a cake. I mean, chairs would be cool and all so our guests can sit, buuuuuut if it doesn’t happen they’ll live. 😉 We won’t make it without cake.
So now I’m relieved I can just go back to enjoying being engaged. It was seriously the most fun feeling ever before I started trying to make wedding decisions.
ALTHOUGH I am surprisingly excited for wedding crafts and already picking out way more than I expected of myself. I’m sure I’ll be posting loads on my personal Instagram, so feel free to check in there if you want to see!
OMG what do I even have to talk about that’s not wedding related???
Oh yeah, all the fun normal stuff. Like FALL and TV and how it’s ALMOST THE HOLIDAYS (what!)
TV to start with because that’s fun. FIRST, I finally started watching Stranger Things. I know, I know. 🤦♀️ Last season P and I watched the first episode and hated it. (I KNOW.) So I just gave up, wasn’t interested at all, didn’t let the hype get to me. But the Season 2 hype really got to me. I felt like I was missing out on something so fun! So we decided to try again. I still didn’t love the first episode. The second episode got my attention but I wouldn’t say I actually liked it. But after that I’m HOOKED.
Also, is it just me, or has Grey’s Anatomy come full circle and gone back to being AWESOME? The last few seasons I’ve been pretty disinterested but there always seems to come a day when I’m cleaning or scrapbooking or something and I’ll binge-watch to catch up. But THIS season I’m dying for each new episode. Maybe it’s just that it feels good to be invested in a show and its characters and nothing else on TV lasts long anymore or stays at ALL good? I dunno. But I’m loving it.
Last TV topic: I had some weird nostalgia for this time last year when GILMORE GIRLS was about to come out and I was all thrilled. And then it was a huge letdown. I really meant to give it a second chance, but I hadn’t until this past weekend. I had to reorganize my whole closet (like, take EVERYTHING out redo everything) so I streamed the Year in the Life while I did that. Luckily this time I knew to just skip ALLLLLLLLL of that ridiculous freaking musical crap which was a huge help. (I timed it: TEN solid minutes of the musical. Not including all the time spent talking about it! Absurd.) But I honestly don’t know if I’ll ever watch it again. Which is saying a lot considering I’ve seen the original series more times than I can count and don’t get sick of rewatching.
This whole weekend was pretty uneventful. My biggest priorities were organizing my closet, getting the pets their vaccines, and finishing my book club book. And yet I was just THRILLED for it and it’s been really nice. It seems like Preston and I haven’t had a free weekend since our vacation. I wish I’d had just a bit more time to work on some blog stuff, but I finally have a new recipe coming this weekend and I tested two more recipes which both turned out great! So we’ll be back in business 😉
I am also working on a huge list of Instant Pot recipes I’m going to start testing. You guys KNOW I hate Daylight Savings time tremendously. The few months of the year when it is dark on my way to work and dark on my way home make me sooooo depressed. (And super long story short, I wound up with a crummy built-in office at work and I have ZERO natural light. Not just a lack of windows of my own, but absolutely no natural light can find its way into my office. I have four lights at work and it still surprises me most mornings how dark it still is.)
SO one of my many little tools to combat my winter blues is to get myself a consolation present every year at Daylight Savings. It’s a super fun tradition and one I really look forward to. I also try to make it relate somehow. (Like the year I bought nice photography lights so I can keep taking blog photos in the winter.) This year I got an INSTANT POT! So I’ve only been using it a week and I am a big fan. But there’s definitely a little learning curve with it. If you watch my Instagram stories, you saw the fail that was sweet potatoes (timing for them will be super hard since their size can vary so much) and my soft boiled eggs turned out hard boiled. But still! It’s way fun.
Okay, friends, this is getting a little long so I’m calling it! Have a super lovely rest of your week! xoxox
