Okay, friends, I’m starting to hit a wall with this Blogmas thing. And I only have…. TEN DAYS left. Eeek. I’m hoping I can get a few good recipes ready this weekend and come up with some ideas.
Fortunately I have most of the weekend free so that should be possible. Maybe I can even get a little bit ahead because I’ve been posting everything day-of (usually fairly late in the evening hahaha) and some of these posts I haven’t even planned until late in the day.
Today’s post, though, I decided on this morning! Haha much better, yes? I read another Leslie’s list of best buys in 2017 and thought that would be an AWESOME idea for today’s post. It’s easy for me to get together 👍, but I LOVE reading posts like this.
I went through my Amazon purchase history for the year and thought about my most used daily items. And here are all the things that came to mind throughout the day…
KINDLE. This is the impetus for the post, really. Other Leslie posted her iPad for reading ebooks, but I am SO partial to my Kindle. It is probably my #1 favorite purchase of the year. It’s motivated me to read a lot more, keep a serious running list of library books going, choose books over screens (well, screens with that nasty blue light) before bed. I am a huge fan.
Sheet masks. Yep, I’ve talked about them way too much. But seriously… I find the process super relaxing, the little bit of extra pampering so good for the soul, and my skin ALWAYS needs some extra moisture.
Nutribullet. I actually think I got this before this year. I can’t remember when… but I was oohing and ahhing over it the other night so it popped into my brain. I use it for smoothies 90% of the time so I forget how impressive it really is with other stuff. This week I made a romesco sauce and it pulverized whole almonds into a creamy smooth sauce in no time.
GapFit leggings. I shared my marble GapFit pants that I fought a mannequin for on Black Friday (and they’re ON SALE) But I also bought these compression leggings and I’m completely obsessed. I’m shocked I don’t hear more people rave about them! Or GapFit in general…? Maybe they won’t last long? But for now they totally make the list.
The best hiking boots ever. Absolute best thing I bought for our vacation. ‘Nuff said.
This one is pretty ridiculous. But I bought this giraffe ear headband on a silly whim after I started doing so many face masks. Now I use them almost daily while I wash my face, apply makeup, or wear a face mask. And they just bring a smile to my face.
I asked Preston what he thought our best purchases of 2017 were, and he had one immediate and very emphatic response: Patagonia better sweaters! He bought two this year 😂 and I bought one. They came to Europe with us and on all our camping trips and we’re totally in love with them. I really want a vest now…
My wake up light was one of my longest-awaited purchases and it did NOT disappoint.
The best, least politically correct best board game ever
My pop socket was an absolute necessity when I got my iPhone 7 Plus because I have tiny hands and that phone is humongous. (And the phone does NOT make the list because I’m still bitter that I couldn’t find a decent phone for less than several hundred dollars. Ugh. Ridiculous.)
This has also been the year of the gummy vitamin for me 😂 I’ve taken a gummy multi-vitamin for years because I’m an adult. But this year I ate gummy fiber vitamins, probiotics, all kinds of stuff. But these biotin gummies are the tastiest, with an awesome ingredient list, and my hair, skin, and nails have been getting noticeably healthier. Plus they’re super cheap at Costco and I really look forward to the tiny treat every night.
I could just write a long list of vacation-related things since it was such a high point of the year. But I’ll stick with the top two which are the only intangible things on the list and add: going to Europe for the first time in my life!!! and GETTING ENGAGED!
Ooh, and obviously my engagement ring. It’s for sure my number one favorite THING of 2017.
What are some of your favorite purchases of the year??
