You know what I am not loving lately? STUFF. I don’t know if it’s holiday shopping or that I’ve just felt too busy lately to clean and straighten as much as I need to, but I feel overwhelmed by stuff and I’m sick of it.
Don’t get me wrong, I still have plenty of favorite “things” to share on this post, but I’m more excited about the abstract stuff today than the actual STUFF.
I’ll get my favorite “thing” of the month out there first, which is my new Instant Pot! I have used it a ton but still feel like I have SO much to learn about how to use it and reap all it’s super helpful (mostly time-saving) benefits. I’m hoping to have my thoughts together later this month to share, but I’ll at least post an Instant Pot recipe roundup during the month. There are SO MANY amazing things you can make with this bad boy.
And it’s so good that I’m ready to get rid of my rice cooker and slow cooker (which should help my stuff overwhelm a bit.) P and I are planning for a MAJOR new year purge in the apartment. Now that’s exciting. I’ve been bookmarking articles and YouTube videos with tips and advice because I need a way more major cut than I can usually bring myself to do.
A REAL Christmas tree! My other favorite “thing.” I know I already mentioned it, but I haven’t had a real tree in years and years, and it looks and smells fantastic.
My cozy living room right now. I have holiday decor all over the place. Cozy blankets, pillows, an unnecessary amount of candles, those santa wine glasses (which I bought just after Christmas THREE YEARS AGO and forgot to get out the last two years!!!)
Last weekend, P, my sis, bro-in-law, and I went to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra! I was planning to buy tickets for my sister’s Christmas present and P was jealous and wanted us to go too. I was down to go, but it wasn’t something I would have done on my own. But it was SO COOL. I didn’t know they go to so many theatrics with all the lights, lasers, and FIRE! I loved it.
Collecting birch candle holders for our wedding. I found two beautiful candle holders several weeks ago at Marshall’s and wanted to use them for our wedding, but could not find ANY others that were as pretty, even after scouring the internet. Then I found a small candle holder with an AWESOME wood wick candle in it last week. This week I found three more candles that coordinate (YAY!) and my mom found some too! This kind of wedding detail I actually really love.
My sweet cuddly cat. I feel like I’m just talking constantly about how sad his poor eye is, so I’m sorry if it’s overload. Quick recap: he has a corneal ulcer and requires loads of eye drops. He’s started running from me if I walk too directly toward him, like he knows what my intentional walk means 😔 BUT about three minutes after I give him his drops lately, he comes out from whatever hiding place he escaped to and just MEOWS up a storm and waits for me to pull up a blanket so he can cuddle and get love and attention. So sweet.
Morning yoga. I have gone through a couple long spells when I do a little bit of yoga every morning. It’s been YEARS since my last one, but I’ve just brought it back. And it feels so right. (My all-time favorite yoga DVD is made for quick mornings.)
Speaking of, my new yoga/workout area in the office feels awesome. I worked out in there the first few days of Seymore’s eye treatment because I had quarantined him in there, so I wanted to keep him company. But I wound up loving it!
Oh my gosh, it wouldn’t be a loving lately post without TRADER JOE’S FAVORITES! Right now, their peppermint cremes are just the best thing in my life. (That’s only a slight exaggeration.) Also loving their face mask trio (I don’t know yet if I really love any of the masks, but they’re a good deal and fun to play with. You know I love my face masks.) And the grump tree! Oh man. Best decoration so far this year.
A puppy scarf!!!! I bought Ned both of the colors of this scarf. Ridiculous? Yes. But I love them and Ned actually seems to LOVE them, too! He is not shy about ripping clothes apart if he doesn’t like them, but he hasn’t touched these and comes running when I’m holing them! Who knew. I’m going to knit him a red and green one for Christmas 🙂
Okay, that’s all I got!
What are your favorite things right now? Favorite stuff? Food? Holiday traditions? Or best yet… Trader Joe’s obsessions I need to try 🤣 ??
