When I did my long recap last week, I realized that I absolutely SHOULD share a whole post on Pinnacles National Park. I have loads of amazing pictures to share, a couple quick recommendations, and I just wanted to rave about this awesome park a bit more.
First up, Pinnacles National Park is located here. I had NO IDEA that this place existed until my parents went in the spring or early summer. And it is only a three hour drive from home, so it’s completely ridiculous that I’d never heard of this place. You guys SEE my blog. You KNOW I like to camp.
Second, it is absolutely amazing. It’s pretty unusual terrain. It was formed by lava, but unlike a lot of lava terrain I’ve seen, it created these HUMONGOUS rock formations. They tower and curve. And they created LOADS of CAVES! As in, super terrifying caves formed by falling boulders getting wedged into crevices. There are two hikes that lead you through caves, and we did them both. They were AMAZING. You literally wind up crawling through very tight caves, walking up horrifying stairs in the middle of caves. I wish I had more pictures, but you HAVE to use a flashlight to get through the caves, and you usually need a hand to help you not die. So pictures were kind of out of the question 😉
Third, there are CONDORS! How cool is that?! We saw three. Annnd that’s pretty awesome. There are also bats. Though you don’t often see them. We did see a couple at night, but obviously that’s hard to get a clear view.
So basically: I am a huge fan. I was really impressed and will for sure be back. And now, here are a buttload of photos for you to peruse 😉
