Ginger-Lime Papineapple Agua Fresca

Reunited with my juicer at last!

Oh juicer, how I have missed you.  Such a welcoming beacon in a groggy dark morning.  We must celebrate with something extra-special!

So special I made up a word for it.  Papineapple?  Yeah.  Ginger-Lime Papaya Pineapple Agua Fresca was an excessively long title (so I made it four letters shorter – helpful, eh?).  Papaya and pineapple are the stars here!

serves 4
2 C fresh pineapple
2 C fresh papaya
2 fresh limes, rind removed
1-inch piece of ginger, peeled
1 1/4 C sparkling water
dash of ground cayenne (optional)

Juice the pineapple, papaya, limes, and ginger.  Pour over ice.  Add sparkling water, and top with a sprinkle of ground cayenne. Thank your juicer.  Maybe hug your juicer . . . it’s okay, it’s not weird.

If you don’t have a juicer . . . well, you must really think I’m crazy then.

No, really.  If you don’t have a juicer, you can do the same thing by just pureeing the first four ingredients together (you’ll want to grate the ginger first unless you have a fancy high-powered blender), then strain and follow the rest of the recipe.  You can skip the straining step if you want to keep all that good fiber, too.

Refreshing!
