I made sorbet with my food processor tonight!
I should also tell you that I’m so excited about it, I initially wrote that first sentence in all caps. But that seemed a little aggressive. I don’t want to scare you away.
Anyway ….
Sorbet! Light, sweet, and spiked sorbet. Four ingredients. Yep, just the things in the title alone. You don’t even have to read the rest of this post now, you know how to make this! Just blend stuff.
I made an awesome strawberry, mango, and banana smoothie last weekend. It was so simple but my goodness do those flavors pair well together. I was (and still am) planning to post that recipe, but to get smoothie consistency, I used mango juice.
Which I’m out of.
These things were all in my fridge/freezer already, so the sorbet version was born. (The white port was a yummy treat my sister gave me to cheer up a crummy mood one day. Definitely worked. Repeatedly.)
Mostly out of my lazy desire to avoid walking two blocks to the store resourcefulness to use the things in my house.
serves 2
1/2 C frozen banana slices
1/2 C frozen strawberries
1/2 C frozen mango
1/4 C white port (any sweet booze you want to add would probably be good – any sweet white wine, etc.)
Blend everything together in a food processor until smooth. That’s it!
Less than 100 calories per serving. 2 grams of fat. No added sugar. I’m thinking frozen fruit sorbets will probably be my go-to guiltless summer dessert.
As if that wasn’t enough happy for one day, then I saw THIS:
Am I the only person who’s ridiculously excited? … For something that doesn’t happen for another seven months. Lame. 🙁
