Pink Golden Grapefruit Juice - Flora Foodie

Pink Golden Grapefruit Juice

IMG_6044Does daylight savings time make anyone else feel super groggy and jet-lagged? I know, I know, it’s only an hour. But MAN getting up in the mornings this week was really hard. I thought it was just a lack of sleep over the weekend and Monday blues. Then Tuesday in my half-asleep state, instead of hitting “snooze” I just turned my alarm off. Blergh.  So finally this morning I got up early to start my day with some fresh juice, hoping for that energized feeling it gives me!  I still feel pretty groggy, not sure if it helped at all….

Either way, I’m happy to get my neglected juicer out. I could probably count the number of time I’ve juiced all winter long. It’s funny, I’ve actually still made a decent handful of smoothies, but I just have not wanted juice.

I think my recent revival of the farmer’s market visits has inspired me to juice. Having beautiful, fresh produce stocked in my fridge made me do it.

The grapefruits I’ve gotten lately at the farmer’s markets are ridiculously good. Big white sweet grapefruits, juicy normal grapefruits, a MONSTER of a pink grapefruit. Yum. I like them so much I HAVEN’T been covering them in brown sugar 😉

So today I thought I’d throw them in some juice with more beautiful farmer’s market produce!  Golden beets and blood oranges, plus some gigantic beautiful strawberries I got at Costco yesterday.

serves 1
4 teeny golden beets (prob about 2 average-sized ones)
1 C strawberries
3 small blood oranges
1/2 gigantic grapefruit (or 1 average-sized one)

Juice everything!  Drink up 🙂

Note: use the strawberries to adjust sweetness. I started with just a couple of them, but the juice was way too tart for me, so I added more until it was sweet enough 🙂
