Got a smoothie for you today with some weird ingredients. Oatmeal (but you’ve seen me do that again and again! and again! ) and an apple. Blended with some more common smoothie ingredients.
It’s cinnamony deliciousness first thing in the morning. That tastes like oatmeal cookie batter. Soooo happy.
I’m starting with a little batch of overnight oats. If you haven’t tried overnight oats, you must test them out – happy way to have oatmeal that is cool and summer friendly and also takes such little prep time it makes eating a good breakfast crazy simple!
overnight oats:
serves 1
1/3 C rolled oats
2/3 C unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 T chia seeds
Mix everything together. Refrigerate overnight.
That’s the simple recipe. If you want your overnight oats for breakfast not in a smoothie, here are some fun additions:
~ cocoa powder, carob powder, vanilla/chocolate protein powder
~ maple syrup, molasses, date paste, agave, etc.
~ berries berries berries
~ nuts
~ whatever you like in your morning oatmeal!
I’m taking that plain recipe from above and blending it into this awesome smoothie.
smoothie:
serves 1
overnight oats recipe from above
1 t ground cinnamon
1 t vanilla extract
1 C ice
1/2 C unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 T maple syrup
1 apple, diced (refrigerate it first so it’s nice and chilly with the rest of your smoothie ingredients)
Blend!
Slurp.
