Okay, I have a problem. A buttery toast problem. In that I love it too damn much.
Melty Earth Balance on a hot piece of bread is hands-down one of my favorite snacks. Sometimes breakfast.
Then they just had to go and make this:
Roasted Garlic & Herbs Earth Balance?!?!!
Ummmm, yes please I will eat you now.
Too much of you. DANG! I’m trying to curb this melty toast love. Plan foiled.
Basically now you can have awesome garlic bread at the drop of a hat. To snack on. To serve with dinner.
OR to use on a sandwich. Hooray 🙂
I made some yummy garlicky bread to house my simple sandwich of sweet glazed tempeh, my new obsession Daiya cheddar slices or wedge (because it melts sooooo well), and avocado. Nom. Some crisp lettuce would have been awesome, but I am out. Eh, well.
I do recommend using something other than a baguette like I used. It was left over from Thanksgiving, but it was too high a bread-to-filling ratio. Not enough surface area to house my ingredients. Eh, well (again.)
Fast and scrumptious sandwich!
serves 1
2 pieces bread
1 t roasted garlic Earth Balance
1/3 block tempeh
2 t oil
juice from 1 orange
2 t maple syrup
1 T soy sauce
1 serving Daiya cheddar (the slices or thinly slice some of the wedge)
1/4 avocado
Just slice the tempeh into some thin slices and make my sweet glazed tempeh with it. Heat oil in a nonstick skillet; add tempeh until golden on both sides; mix orange juice, soy sauce, and maple syrup together, and pour the mixture in with the tempeh; turn until coated and glazed with the mixture. Meanwhile, toast bread with that yummy Earth Balance and Daiya cheese on top. Sandwich together with some avocado.
Proceed to devour said sandwich. Nom. 🙂
