Good morning, internet friends! I successfully got up and worked out this morning! Whew! It is seriously difficult to get up before 6 am. Okay, some days that’s near impossible too. But I’m thrilled I got up and got moving, and I mixed up this awesome drink (it was an experiment but it worked) for a reward.
Preston has to get cash for his parking lot everyday, which often has us walking down to the gas station near our apartment to pick a little something up so he can get some cash back. Sunday night I grabbed a chocolate coconut water (LOVE that the gas station has them!) and on the walk back I was talking about my early morning workout plans yesterday (which completely failed…) and thought of the perfect purpose for that coconut water. I found vanilla chai Vega at TJ Maxx yesterday! I don’t know why it was there, but the expiration date is far off and the seal is sealed! ๐ I grabbed it for $20 and then at Sprouts not even an hour later saw the same tub on sale for $32. Proud ๐ Anyway, I thought it would be so good after my workout to mix some chai protein powder with chocolate coconut water! I told Preston I could mix up “some kind of Vanilla Chai Chocolate Coconut Water Protein Shake Thing!” and he said that sounded good and should also be the title of my blog post :-/
So this morning I got up bright (actually dark) and early, slurped down a root beer flavored Gu (I do NOT recommend!) and let that darn Kayla Itsines kick my ass.
My chocolate chai protein concoction did not disappoint. I am a BIG fan of chocolate and chai combined (and I’ve actually already posted two very similar drinks – my Chocolate Chai Recovery Milkshake and my Chocolate Chai Protein Shake) but I wanted to post this one too because it is SO easy and quick, and even healthier than my other two recipes.
So here’s all you do:
chocolate chai coconut water protein shake
serves 1
1 bottle Zico Chocolate Coconut Water
1/2 scoop Vega Vanilla Chai Protein Powder
Open the coconut water. If it’s really full, take a big gulp out of the top to clear some space. Carefully spoon the protein powder into the bottle. Put the lid back on and shake shake shake it off shake it off it up!
Piece of cake, incredibly satisfying, hydrating, and awesome for a little recover when you’ve done so many damn jump squats and walking lunges that your hair shakes from being so unsteady on your sore legs. ๐
I slurped away on my awesome shake while I whipped out my blow dryer’s diffuser that I almost never use and was pretty damn happy with the big ol’ hair it created! Big hair day, butt-kicking workout, chocolately chai shake – I think I’m ready to take on the day and finish this work week!
Plus today is my sweet niece’s second birthday, so I’m excited to get through the day so I can go give her a big birthdays squeeze ๐
