Happy Thursday, friends! How are you today?
I’m feeling a little sleep deprived this week. Preston and I did not sleep well while he was sick, and I am starting the never-ending battle between trying to work out in the mornings or figure out if I can actually do it consistently in the evenings! The last couple days I’ve gotten up at 5 but that is really not easy even after a full night’s sleep, so we’ll see if I can actually keep it up…
Anyway, let’s move on to a smoothie recipe today! Yep, I’m copying the old Jamba Juice smoothie! Anybody else remember the strawberry tsunami smoothie from the original Jamba menu? Well, I think they still have it but changed the name after the Indonesian tsunami. (Sorry if it offends anyone, but I think that’s taking politically correct-ness to the extreme. I’m keeping the tsunami name because that’s what it was called when I used to order it all the time in high school.)
So this is my vegan strawberry tsunami smoothie. Same flavors, different ingredients. The store-bought version is deceptively unhealthy, full of sugar and sherbet and just not my style. This smoothie is nothing but fruit and freshly squeezed juice with your favorite non-dairy milk. Depending on your fruit, this might come out a little tart, so give it a taste and decide if you want to add something for extra sweetness (especially if you’re using unsweetened milk.)
- 1 1/2 C frozen strawberries
- 1 C frozen peaches
- juice of 3 limes
- juice of 1 lemons
- 2 C soy milk
- Add all ingredients to your blender and blend away!
- This smoothie can handle some greens really well, so if you want to add some spinach I’d blend that with soy milk first and then add all the other ingredients for an awesome green drink!
